Cyber attacks Switzerland 1st half 2022

In the first half of 2022, numerous companies and organizations in Switzerland were again affected by successful cyberattacks. Some of these attacks attracted a great deal of attention. For example, the massive data leak at the International Committee of the Red Cross in January, which primarily affected people in need. However, the majority of cyber attacks are likely to have remained unknown to the public. The Swiss National Cyber Security Center NCSC (link below) received 83 reports of ransomware from January to June, but only a small proportion of these became public.

The following overviews address known cases. In addition to ransomware attacks and data theft, DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks are also included, in which a system is overloaded by a large number of requests, as a result of which legitimate requests can no longer be processed and availability is thus impaired.
